Shaw Cross Sharks Open Applications for 2027 National Conference League Head Coach
Shaw Cross Sharks ARLFC are inviting applications for the position of Head Coach of the club’s National Conference League side for the 2027 season onwards.
Following a period of significant progress both on and off the field, the Sharks are now looking to appoint an ambitious and committed coach to lead the club into the next chapter of its development.
The role represents an exciting opportunity to take charge of a well-established Rugby League club with a proud history, strong community foundations and ambitions to continue competing at the highest possible level.
Applicants must hold a minimum Level 2 UKCC Coaching Accreditation and have demonstrable experience of coaching senior players.
The club is particularly keen to hear from coaches who can demonstrate a clear coaching philosophy, strong leadership qualities and a commitment to developing players and creating a positive, high-performance environment.
A proven pathway into the professional game
The opportunity at Shaw Cross has also provided a platform for coaches to progress their careers beyond the community game.
Importantly, the previous two Head Coaches of the Shaw Cross Sharks have gone on to progress into professional Rugby League from their roles with the club. Most recently, Matt Bramald was appointed Head Coach of Keighley Cougars, following his two seasons in charge at Shaw Cross.
That progression demonstrates the quality of environment the club aims to provide, while also highlighting the opportunity for an ambitious coach to further develop their own career alongside helping the Sharks progress on the field.
What we are looking for
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate:
* Proven experience coaching senior Rugby League players
* A minimum Level 2 UKCC Coaching Accreditation
* A clear and considered coaching philosophy
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* The ability to build relationships with players, coaching staff and the wider club
* A commitment to player development and high standards
* The ambition to help Shaw Cross continue to compete and progress within the National Conference League
Applicants should submit a CV, along with details of their coaching experience, coaching philosophy and two nominated Rugby League referees/references.
Applications close Sunday 11th October 2026.
Applications should be emailed to openage@shawcrosssharks.co.uk, with the subject line “Shaw Cross Sharks NCL Head Coach Application.”
