We are extremely proud as a whole club of our girls section, which seems to go from strength to strength, we are constantly seeing growth in age groups, more players than ever before on pathways at professional clubs and the whole girls section developing on and off the pitch.
We can now confirm two of our girls are taking their next steps at an international level, with our U14’s player who was out to impress at the Scotland RL pathway program in Featherstone and looking forward to the next session in Scotland, while our U18’s player is also doing us proud on the Scotland RL pathway who will travel up to Cumbria in March for the Women’s open sessions.
We would like to wish both girls the very best for the next set of trials, just go out there and do your best girls, you are already winners in our eyes. We would also like put on record our thanks to the coaches, the hours they put into coaching as a voluntary role can be a thankless job and certainly doesn’t go unnoticed by all here at the sharks.
Head of girls Julie Lumb had the following to say: I’m so pleased for not only these two girls but all the girls that have gone on to various pathways throughout the years, the hard work and dedication from those girls has been rewarded and it’s great to see, it just goes to show, if you are willing to to knuckle down and work hard, who knows where this sport can take you. The Women’s and Girls game is in a great place with constant growth and more are getting the opportunities to showcase their skills as young athletes, and long may it continue.
